Production Manager / Building and Construction Industry

Situated in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney our client specialises in the design and manufacture of commercial quality aluminium windows and doors servicing both residential and commercial clients.  Due to their use of high quality materials and the most up to date computer design programs and cutting edge manufacturing technology they enjoy an enviable reputation in the market place and continue to experience significant growth rates.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Project Manager or supervisor in the building industry to join a friendly family run company that looks after and supports its staff.  You will be joining a friendly and helpful culture.  Experience in the aluminium window and doors industry is not essential but will be highly regarded.

Essentially your role will be to conduct site visits and liaise with builders to ensure that all the measurements and/or drawings for the aluminium doors and windows are correctly taken.  You will then prepare accurate shop drawings / production sheets and deliver them to the production planner/purchaser.  Once the doors and windows are completed you will be responsible for on-site installation.

Your primary duties will include:

  • Liaising with on-site builders on an on-going basis
  • Taking correct measurements from the sites and from architectural drawings
  • Preparing shop drawings/productions sheets
  • Liaising with the production planner to ensure clear communication of jobs and timelines
  • Managing the onsite installation of aluminium doors and windows
  • Negotiate contracts with builders
  • Manage monthly payment claims

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Between 3 to 5 years experience as project manager in the building and construction industry.  Whilst not essential preference will be given to applicants with aluminium doors and windows experience
  • Ability to clearly and interpret architectural drawings
  • Demonstrated experience with the preparation of production sheets / shop drawings and the ability to communicate instructions to the project planner/purchaser
  • Demonstrated experience of onsite installation projects
  • An ability to negotiate contracts
  • Experience with successfully managing monthly payment claims from builders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with CAD will be highly regarded
