This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced planner / purchaser in the aluminium window and doors industry to join a friendly family run company that supports its staff.
Essentially your role will be to receive the relevant details of a job from the project manager, including time frames and budgets and then proceed to input all that information into the computer system (V6) which will produce the required specifications (including optimised cutting plans, glass quantities, extrusions etc). You will then be responsible for purchasing all the required materials and liaising with the factory manager who will be responsible for completing the production side of matters.
As well as liaising with the project manager and the factory manager you will be dealing closely with a broad range of vendors and suppliers. You will be responsible for ensuring that the purchasing of materials is conducted in a manner that takes into account the business’ cash flow as well as discount opportunities. Importantly, you will also be responsible for chasing up late purchases.
In summary your primary duties will include:
- Take a job brief from the project manager including time frames, budgets and technical specifications
- Produce the required information for the factory manager so he can manufacture within required specifications
- Purchase all the required materials including aluminium, glass and hardware
- Chase up and correct late or wayward purchases
- Purchase materials taking into account cash flow and discount opportunities
To be considered for this role you will have:
- At least 5 years experience in the aluminium window and door industry either as planner purchaser or factory manager where you were closely involved with planning and purchasing process
- An ability to work closely with computer software such as V6
- Solid experience with purchasing commercial size quantities of aluminium, glass and hardware for windows and doors including an ability to secure discounts, purchase quality materials and buy at the appropriate time
- Demonstrated experience with chasing up purchases
- Excellent attention to detail
