Our client is the representative body for a major Australian service industry. It is a specialist organisation committed to working for employers in a major part of the tourist sector. Our client represents a range of accommodation establishments including hotels, motor inns, bed & breakfasts, boarding houses, backpackers, caravan parks, timeshares, chains and independent operators in metropolitan and regional Australia adding up to a membership base of over 1500 properties and some 60,000 guest rooms.

You will have ample resources and support at your disposal to excel including a large database of existing clients and potential sponsors. Your role is twofold. First, you will be working as an events coordinator (up to 80% of your time). You will be organizing and coordinating your own smaller functions as well as working closely with an outside events company for the larger functions.
Your second function (equally as important) is to raise sponsorship dollars so various functions/events can be held on a regular basis. You will be liaising with past sponsors and making contact with potential sponsors. You will be working off an existing database but also generating your own leads. Maintaining existing relationships will also constitute an important function.
To be considered for this role you will have:
- At least 3 years experience working as an events coordinator as well as a corporate fundraiser via attracting sponsorship dollars
- Demonstrated experience organizing your own smaller functions including sourcing venues, food, drinks etc
- Experience in working closely with events companies to organize large events
- Proven track record in raising money via existing and new sponsors
- An ability to close sales, i.e. get the sponsor to sign on the dotted line
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- An ability to communicate with a very broad range of stakeholders – not just “corporate types”
- The ability to write professional proposals
- Experience in sourcing value ad service providers for members
