Our client is a well established and award winning architectural firm offering a full range of architectural, urban design and interior design services. Working with an enviable list of clients their services include, but are not limited to, everything from retail to heritage design as well as project management, feasibility studies and product design. We are looking for an experienced and motivated financial controller who will manage the accounting operations of the company including the preparation of timely management reports. Importantly, you will be hands on (performing daily transactions) as well as taking on more strategic responsibilities such as profit projections and cash flows.
As well as having a minimum of 5 years experience working for a company located within Australia you will have a track record in working for small to medium sized companies with turnover of anywhere between 3 to 7 million.
Crucial to this role is the preparation of financial reports including monthly financial statements with comparisons to budget, annual trading budgets and cash flow forecasts. Experience using Total Synergy will be viewed favourably.
Your main duties will include:
- Complete control of the day-to-day accounting function of the company
- Manage and process end to end payroll function for permanent and casual staff (approximately 60 staff)
- Timely and accurate reporting of monthly management reports (P&L, Balance Sheet and cash flow)
- Prepare budgets, short and long term cash flow forecast
- Preparation and statutory reporting of BAS, PAYG, Payroll Tax, Workers Compensation & FBT
- Assist external accountant in preparation of company’s annual accounts and income tax returns
- Daily cash flow management
- Monitoring costs in different parts for the practice
- Oversee the AR
- Perform all AP functions
- Play a major role in the implementation of new accounting software (Total Synergy)
To be considered for this role you will have:
- A minimum of 4 years experience as a financial controller for a medium size enterprise in Australia
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- High level experience with MYOB
- Demonstrated hands on experience with payroll including payroll legislative requirements including tax implications and entitlements
- Excellent communication skills
Whilst not essential experience in implementing new accounting software will be viewed favourably.
