Catering and Food Services Manager

 

Our client is one of Australia’s largest providers of retirement villages.  Committed to providing accommodation, facilities and services that enable residents to enjoy their retirement they offer an extensive range of retirement property options across Australia from which to choose.  Each one of their villages is immaculately presented and maintained and delivers a range of lifestyle options to all residents.  They have an enviable reputation in the industry and are looking forward to continued growth. 

As the Catering and Food Services Manager you will be responsible for the efficient operation of catering and all food services for 27 retirement villages (18 in Victoria and 9 in NSW). One of your major challenges will be bringing in house all outsourced catering services and introducing savings to the existing operations.  Reporting directly to the State Manager you will be working with a professional team and provided with the required support.

 

As well as the above your primary duties include:

Ensuring all kitchens and kitchen staff are operating correctly and efficently

Establishing relationships with Suppliers and Contractors and implementing preferred suppliers across all villages in Victoria and NSW

Develop and manage kitchen budgets

Responsible for all major services and equipment purchases

Managing all compliance/Food Safety issues (including annual audit) for all villages

Regular meetings with the village managers regarding progress and strategies going forward

Responsibility for the establishment and development of a pool of professional relief chefs

Identifying and eliminating wasteful practices

Review menus and pricing throughout villages/apartments  to ensure cost effectiveness

 

To be considered for this role you will have:

At least 3 years experience as a successful catering and food services manager working with multiple sites
Excellent people management skills

Thorough knowledge of compliance and food regulation requirements and hands on experience with implementing these

Experience with eliminating wasteful practices whilst maintaining excellent standards and service

Well developed interpersonal and communication skills

Stable work history with excellent referees

Relevant qualifications

 

Whilst not essential experience working in the retirement village or aged care industry will be viewed favourably.
