This is a fantastic opportunity for a network engineer to join a very well established I.T. services company providing regular work across a broad client base. You will be given lots of autonomy and the freedom to solve problems as you see fit. Enjoy a variety of challenges and the independence of working on client sites mostly on your own.
You will require your own car as you will be driving to various client locations within the Sydney Metropolitan area where you will be performing a broad range of services including setting up the I.T. infrastructure of small to medium size offices and routine maintenance calls. You will be working on client sites of anywhere between 5 to 100 users.
Your primary duties will include:
- Work with end users to identify and deliver required PC service levels.
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.
- Where required, install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user workstation software and networking software products.
- Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex PC problems for a variety of end users, and recommend and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
- Monitor and test PC performance and provide PC performance statistics and reports.
- Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring PC performance.
- Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
- Construct, install, and test customised configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.
- Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations.
- If necessary, liaise with third-party support and PC equipment vendors.
To be considered for these roles you will have:
- A minimum of 2 years experience working in various client locations resolving basic problems to the high end issues
- Completed your MCP qualifications or TAFE diploma
- Hands on experience with hardware and software issues including: Active Directory, Exchange, servers, networks, desktops and peripherals
- Hands-on hardware and software troubleshooting experience.
- Working technical knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, and standards.
- Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
- Effective interpersonal skills and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
- Self motivated and directed.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Whilst not essential, experience with Cisco and Sonic Wall will be highly regarded.
