MICROSOFT ENGINEER
Our client is a leading provider in the professional management of computing services and infrastructure. They provide secure and reliable data centres for their clients’ computing infrastructure as well as a range of managed services, including systems management, backup, security, communications, and database administration. They have an excellent reputation in their field, an enviable track record in professional delivery of services and continue to expand.
The objective of this role is to manage the day to day activities required to support internal and customer system/s, including managing and reporting on incidents and problems. You will need to provide analysis and support to systems to ensure performance meets or exceeds defined SLA’s and provide input to customer strategy and solutions as well as the internal system management framework. You will also be required to provide input and support to internal and customer projects to facilitate service delivery.
POSITION DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide consultancy and technical support to existing customers
· Hands-on troubleshoot and rectify service issues in regards to Microsoft services in accordance with agreed service levels
· Provide technical input to architectural designs and implement said designs
· Maintain and support Microsoft related hardware, software and applications
· Implement enhancements to existing infrastructure and liaise with vendors in regards to outsourced services
· Implementation of new hardware, software and services
· Routine operational, maintenance and support activities
· Creation and auditing of system documentation
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
· Strong experience in troubleshooting and performance tuning environments
· Strong passion for, and up-to-date knowledge in, technology, computers and systems. Specifically
· Knowledge of virtualisation
· Ability to manage enterprise solutions in the Microsoft space
· Excellent knowledge of MS Server operating systems (Windows 2003/2008)
· Understanding of service level agreements
· Knowledge of LAN technologies
· Exposure and knowledge of thin client technology
· Ability to leverage vendor relationship to assist with incident and problem resolution
· Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
· Pro-active approach in assisting the Sales and Projects Team
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum 5 years experience in the Information Technology industry
· Minimum 3 years working with network and server infrastructure
· Experience working in ITIL framework
· At least 2 major industry certification (eg: ITIL, PRINCE2, VCP, CCEA, RHEL, MCTS, MCITP)
· Strong technical background with the ability to understand complex Infrastructure solutions
· Degree or Tertiary Qualification (desirable)
· Any experience with VMware, Citrix or SharePoint is highly regarded
