SENIOR DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

As the Service Desk Manager your role your duties will include:
- Responsible and Accountable for the efficient working of all Corporate DBs, interfaces and integration
- Responsible for the maintenance of Oracle/SQL DBs and any updates as required
- Provide accurate timekeeping against customer requests
- Work closely with other operations teams to deliver comprehensive solutions
- Identify and understand customer requirements
- Follow up SLA breaches with team members
- Lead weekly/fortnightly team meetings
- Improve turnaround time of incidents and problems
- Maintain up to date and comprehensive documentation of all environments
- Responsible for ensuring data integrity and security is maintained by controlling all computer databases
- Volumes and lifecycle arrangements for archiving
- Liaises with staff and vendors involved in database support to uphold standards of usage and relationships between existing data and proposed additional data
- Responsible for the implementation and automation of Integration, Interfaces and data consolidation
This position requires the following skills & knowledge:
- Minimum 5 years working in database administration
- Experience working in ITIL framework
- At least 2 major industry certification (eg: ITIL, PRINCE2, VCP, CCEA, RHEL, MCITP)
- Strong experience in troubleshooting and performance tuning environments
- Design and document database architecture. Data Modeling.
- Technical expertise in Oracle application server (10g OAS), Oracle RDBMS 10g, 11g using RAC, ASM, Grid Control and Data Guard in Unix (Linux) OS environment
- Technical expertise in MS SQL server 2005 and 2008 ( Clustering)
- Understanding storage allocation and management in a Storage Area Network (SAN) environment
- Design Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence platform
- Build database scheme, tables, procedures and permissions
- Set up data sharing and disk partitioning
- Develop database utilities and automated reporting
- Create shell scripts for task automation
- Create, test and execute data management languages
- Analyse, consolidate and tune database for optimal efficiency
- Oversee backup, clustering, mirroring, replication and failover
- Restore and recover corrupted databases
- Install and test upgrades and patches
- Implement security and encryption
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
- Degree or Tertiary Qualification (desirable)
