Finalist in the State Business Chamber’s 2013 Business Awards, for ‘Excellence in Innovation’
The Recruitment Alternative is thrilled with its place as a Finalist in the NSW Business Chamber’s Business Awards for ‘Excellence in Innovation’.
The ‘Excellence in Innovation’ category recognises businesses that have made significant contributions to their industry through the introduction or improvement of an idea, method, technology, process or application.
Not only were we recognised for our innovative approach to recruitment with our top quality, affordable pricing model, but for the innovative way we conduct business as well.
Milestone achievements over the last year include:
- Saving the SME market approx. $2 million in recruitment costs*
- Opening business in New Zealand in 2013
- Single highest cost saving for a client since we started business, of $22k**
- After successfully placing 6 candidates at Anytime Fitness head office, they awarded us their Preferred Supplier Agreement, for Anytime Fitness’s hundreds of gyms around Australia
- We consistently achieve an average service level score of 9.2 out of 10 from our clients
- 98% of clients say they would happily use us again
- 80% of our business is repeat business
- 85% success rate with placements
* The average placement we make is for a salary of $75k. The industry standard for commissions on remuneration is 15-20%. Assuming a conservative 15%, based on the number of placements made, that totals a saving of $2million!
** We were up against a competitor recruitment agency who was going to charge $25k. Client advised that we sent better candidates and ultimately placed for a fee of $3k, saving the client $22k.

Art of Multimedia: Converting a cynical Client whose industry was considered too niche, into our longest standing, most supportive client.
When we first approached Beata Kade from Art of Multimedia she made it very clear to us that she had refused to use a recruitment agency for over 20 years because of her “terrible experience last time”. We were also told that being in the creative media business, her industry was very niche and that the only way to find anyone was through word of mouth and networking in the industry.
Despite these obstacles we convinced her to give us a go. A few weeks later we successfully placed a Digital Designer and a Public Relations expert. And the placements have just continued from there.
Not only did we place both those first roles at a price that saved our client thousands of dollars (at least about $12K), we were also the recipients of glowing feedback. The client who swore she would never use an agency again is now one of our most satisfied clients who refers us business on a continuing basis.
“When The Recruitment Alternative approached me, I had avoided using a recruitment agency for 20 years due to a bad experience with an agency I trusted. Art of Multimedia has great staff longevity, and I was convinced that unless I was always hiring, I wasn’t going to find a company who would really care for finding me the right team members, so people with the right creative and technical skills, but also fit our culture.
The Recruitment Alternative, however, convinced me to give them a try and I’m so glad I did! Not only are they really affordable, their service levels are excellent and Michael is available to help even when I’m not recruiting. They’ve done our recruiting for over 4 years now and have successfully placed roles from Digital Designers to PR managers to office admin roles.” Beata Kade, Managing Director of Art of Multimedia.
Art of Multimedia is a dynamic team of designers, programmers, producers, video editors, camera operators, marketers, communication strategists and writers who design communication solutions that improve the performance of leading businesses and organisations.
ETEA Australia – We’ve saved ETEA a whopping estimated $250,000* over the 48 roles we’ve successfully placed with them to date.
ETEA (Education Training and Employment Australia) got in touch with The Recruitment Alternative 5 years ago when they needed an agency who could recruit for a significant number of roles. They had tried managing their recruitment in house but were restricted by time and resources and so tried using recruitment agencies but found them much too expensive.
The ETEA searched online for an agency that was affordable but promised top quality service and so gave The Recruitment Alternative a try – 48 jobs later they’re very happy clients.
Steve McGregor (NSW State Manager) Education Training and Employment Australia (ETEA) adds:
“The service that The Recruitment Alternative provides is second to none. After having dealt with many different recruitment companies it has been a pleasant surprise to deal with a company that actually does what it claims. Furthermore it has a pricing structure that is nothing other than good value.
Traditionally our company would expend considerable time and costs to recruit new staff, however, now that we use The Recruitment Alternative our costs associated with the overall recruitment process have reduced considerably only adding to the value of their services. Their process is simple and saves us time and money, and the staff are friendly and professional.
We could not recommend them highly enough.”
*if we assume an average of $60k salary, and a typical recruitment agency fee of 12% (which is conservative as this ranges from 12 to 20%)
The ETEA is an ISO 9001 Quality Endorsed Company and private college, offering services that assist in starting a new career, furthering skills in one’s current field of employment, or upgrading one’s team’s knowledge.
Australian Accommodation Association – saved them $17.5k recruiting them a CEO
Australian Accommodation Association is a peak national association for the accommodation industry who approached us to find them a replacement CEO. They were talking to other agencies who were quoting them in excess of $20,000 recruitment fees. We said we’d do it for $2,500. Initially, the board was sceptical that we’d successfully place at such a low price, but in the end they really didn’t want to spend over $20K so they gave us a go.
Several weeks later we successfully placed their CEO!
Not only that – we’d sent them 6 top, high calibre candidates. They were spoilt for choice. We saved them $17,500 provided them with an excellent service and they gave us great feedback.
Regal IT – How we saved a medium size IT company $40K on their recruitment
“We can’t believe how much money you’ve saved our business”
Regal IT, a busy managed services company, approached us to recruit 4 staff. They were unhappy with the recruitment agency they had been using – they were paying high fees and felt they were not getting value for their money.
Initially they were sceptical about our services because they felt our pricing was “too good to be true”. They just couldn’t believe we could provide a good service at our prices. They kept on wanting to know “where the catch was”. Despite these obstacles we convinced them to give us a go.
A few weeks later, we successfully placed all 4 staff. We saved them just under $40,000 on these 4 roles – enough to employ a junior employee person for a year!
Not only did we successfully place all the roles, we also provided them with outstanding service levels. Here’s one of the comments we received: “You sent us excellent candidates. You were way ahead of the other agencies in every respect. Throughout the campaigns we felt you guys really understood our needs and cared about our business”.
