Our client is a well-established accountancy practice located on Sydney’s City Fringe, in the Inner West. They provide services to a wide range of individuals and small business clients across various industries and locations.
  
Our client prepares financial reports and income tax returns for Individuals, Partnerships, Companies, Trusts and Self-Managed Superannuation Funds. The accounting practice also provides services to the Not-for-Profit sector and the Arts Community. They also provide advice and undertake project work and analysis for clients on a regular basis.

About the Role:
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Business Services Accountant whose focus is on providing a timely and quality service to the practice’s clients and someone who possesses good technical, communication and organisational skills. The successful candidate will possess previous experience working within a public practice accountancy environment, and be responsible for providing expert and professional advice and reports to clients.

Duties:

  • Preparation of taxation returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, trusts and superannuation funds.
  • Preparation of financial statements and working papers as required for the above types of clients.
  • Provision of tax and business advice to clients
  • Client Management – build trusting and solid relationships with clients, internal staff, third party suppliers and stakeholders
  • Research of technical issues as and when required

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Business Services Accountant
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Solid understanding of tax and accounting fundamentals
  • Knowledge and demonstrated use of MYOB, Xero and MYOB AE suite of software or similar
  • Knowledge of superannuation accounting and taxation and use of BGL superannuation software would be an advantage, but not essential
  • Some audit experience or a desire to do some audit work, but this is not essential
  • CA, CPA or commenced program, would be preferred
  • MUST be a Permanent Resident of Australia

Duties:.

  • Leading a team of five in providing professional accounting,
  • Tax and advisory services to diverse portfolio of SME clients.
  • Preparation of financial statements, tax returns and BAS for a range of entities, inc. companies, SMSFs and trusts.

  
Skills and Experience:

  • A Bachelor of Accounting or a Bachelor of Commerce (Majoring in Accounting)
  • Five or more years of professional experience in accounting
  • Graduate Diploma of Chartered Accounting (GradDip CA) or a CPA program.
  • An excellent understanding of accounting practices and applicable legal requirements
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external clients
