Key responsibilities

  • Assist with design and development of assigned projects with input from the wider team
  • Produce required drawings, models, images material and mood boards for presentation to client
  • Liaison with assigned consultants, suppliers and other key project stakeholders
  • Assist or undertake Interior or Architecture design or documentation
  • Research and understand construction methods, materials, specifications and standards
  • Contribute to the refinement of design idea and proposals.

Skills and experience

  • 1-3 years of professional experience or new graduate with lots of enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Experience in using Revit is preferred but we will offer training to the right candidate
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Indesign
  • Interest in all stages of a project, from design to documentation
  • Ability to work in a team, listen and respond to a brief
  • Being motivated and passionate about the architecture and design industry.

Our client is a boutique, integrated architecture and interior design studio based in Sydney.  Their studio has over 40 years combined experience working on hospitality projects including clubs, hotels and retail precincts.
Their approach is always to explore the best possible design opportunities to meet the brief. With a focus on sustainability, cost efficiency and innovation, they work closely with clients to deliver projects which exceed initial expectations.  They collaborate between internally owned groups consisting of, but not limited to Development, Architecture, Construction, Collaboration and Administration.

About the Role
The Architect will be primarily responsible for the management of assigned projects from initial design phases through to project delivery. With input from management, your role is to work collaboratively to ensure the design intent satisfies the clients brief and requirements.

The Architect will be required to generate design solutions both conceptual and technical and progressively manage the execution of these ideas. The Architect shall produce the required presentation material and technical documentation to support this. The role will require liaising directly with the client throughout the design development and construction phase whilst keeping the Director included in correspondence.

Duties

  • Design and develop assigned projects with input from the wider team.
  • Produce required drawings, models, images material and mood boards for presentation to client.
  • Liaison with assigned clients, required consultants and other key project stakeholders.
  • Preparation of project fee proposals and project plans to facilitate ongoing management. To be approved by the Director.
  • Fulfil client expectations in line with the agreed deliverables and conditions of engagement.
  • Application of a sound understanding of the BCA and Australian Standards
  • Assist in ensuring contractual project milestones are reached on time
  • Set timely project design reviews and technical reviews as required
  • Ensure that the agreed design intent is represented by the documentation package and is technically correct
  • Attend site visits to monitor project progress
  • Review detailed drawings for costing and construction purposes
  • Notify management of any potential risks affecting the project’s success or compliance. Inform management of any changes to the agreed scope of works, design direction or project timeline, ensuring that written approval is obtained from the client or their representative.
  • Actively contribute to the growth and expansion of the business by pursuing and sharing business leads in line with the vision of the company
  • Manage projects proactively by facilitating communication between stakeholders
  • Assist or undertake Interior or Architecture design or documentation.

   
Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3-4 years industry experience including 2 years in a similar role
  • Experience in working across a variety of sectors including Residential, Commercial and Hospitality projects
  • A professional qualification in Architecture
  • Experience in Revit, Adobe suite and Photoshop software essential
  • Ability to professionally manage communication of design ideas and information both internally and with the client
  • Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure that the vision for the project and our approach to resolving it is aligned and consistently communicated
  • Research and remain informed on products, industry trends and developments and apply new knowledge and techniques where applicable
  • Where possible, explore the use of more environmentally sustainable finishes, applications and techniques
  • Creatively approach each project with consideration to the studio’s conceptual direction and the projects place study based on relevant research.
  • Evaluate where items are at risk of potentially affecting the project and responding appropriately
  • Be solution orientated and to work with the teams and individually to resolve any issues which may arrive.
  • Ensure all task are approached with a professionalism and in accordance with the standard of the NSW architectural industry.
