About the Role:

Our client is a well-established engineering consultancy firm specialising in Civil, Structural and Geotechnical engineering. They are looking for an experienced structural engineer to prepare cost-effective & fully compliant engineering designs for their retail & commercial customers to ensure that they continue to be the supplier of choice for that customer.
  
Duties:

  • Identify appropriate design solutions and work with clients to provide the best cost-compliant design options
  • Check designs to ensure accuracy and compliance prior to issuing to the client
  • Keep clients informed of any issues and proactively seek remedies to minimize the impact to them. Offer additional services accordingly
  • Ensure you meet allocated budgets by processing correct invoice amounts including valid variations
  • Manage day-to-day work demand to ensure in full on time (DIFOT) completion of work
  • Participate in meetings as required and actively suggesting areas for improvement
  • Ensure all costs are captured and compared to estimated – report shortfalls back to the management team
  • Participate in toolbox meetings to maintain focus on customers and promote a healthy working culture with team members
  • Prepare reports as required for management including (but not limited to) DIFOT, invoicing performance and major customer issues

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • 2-5 years experience as a Structural Engineer preferably in the residential market
  • Previous exposure to commercial building designs such as childcare centres & industrial warehousing, is advantageous.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant structural design tools such as Structural Tool Kit, Space Gass, Inducta, WALLAP & AutoCAD drafting software
  • Member of Institute of Engineers Australia is adventageous
  • Registered with CAV as professional civil or structural engineer
  • Permanent resident or eligible to work full time in Australia
