Our client is a highly successful Gold Coast business who provides innovative and safe lifting solutions for heavy machinery in the mining industry.  They have been in operation for over 50 years, and have developed a reputation for uncompromised quality, reliability and design.  Their products are locally manufactured and are supplied to customers in Australia and throughout the World.

About the Role:
The planning role is a critical role in the business and will require the successful individual to have the ability to understand all facets of production planning in a manufacturing environment, including typical usage, sales, orders and inventory.  You will be responsible for creating a production plan for all products, including procurement of necessary materials and establishing the necessary workflow to ensure you meet company goals relating to quality, delivery and costs by utilising your specialist planning skills.

 Duties:

  • Understand, average sales incoming orders and hot quote forecasts from major customers
  • Create, update and maintain production schedule, batches and parts orders to meet production objectives
  • Ensure purchasing of materials are pre-arranged for production and effectively plan to utilise capacity and labour
  • Planning and prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
  • Assist in determining manpower, equipment and raw materials needed to match capacity planning with demand
  • Coordinating production workflow or multiple products lines
  • Effectively communicate plans, progress, interruptions, and issues to the agreed plan
  • Organising transport and despatch of goods
  • Monitor inventory levels, create production work orders, and monitor lead times to ensure customer orders are fulfilled within timeframes
  • Ensure production schedules are planned and managed to achieve at least 98% on-time delivery of customer orders
  • Work closely with the customer service team to convey product availability, timelines, delays or supply interruptions and completion dates
  • Monitor and report on factory effectiveness

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment, with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Strong production planning/scheduling experience
  • Familiar with ERP or MRP systems
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as be part of a team
  • Experience with managing Inventory and Bills of Material
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong Safety focus with a preventative proactive approach and the ability to manage any OH&S issues to resolution
